Hoo are You? Christmas Questions Answered!

Once again I am excited to participate in Hoo are you!  A weekly party where we can go to know more about our fellow bloggers!

Here are my answers for the week!

1. Do you like to listen to Christmas music?
I do enjoy listening to Christmas music.  It helps me get into the spirit of the holidays.
2. Are you one of those people who get all their shopping done early,
or do you do most of it in December?
I admit that I just started yesterday with some great cyber Monday deals.  I do have a few other items that i have picked up in the last couple of months as well.  And I will most likely be picking things up all month long.
3. Do you set a budget on how much you spend on each person?
Nope!  Probably should though....
4. Do you send out Christmas cards?
Yes! I love sending and receiving Christmas cards!
5. Do you enjoy this holiday season or does it stress you out?
I try to enjoy it! But there is a lot of stress that goes along with it.  So I do my best to make it enjoyable and fun for everyone.

Christmas Countdown and a Winner!

I have seen Advent Calendars all over blogland lately and finally dug mine out.  I have 2 different ones, that were both given to me as gifts!  So I can't take the credit but still want to show them off!

My first one, made by my MIL.  My kids love this!  It is always a fight as to who gets to move the bead each morning.
Each day in December, you slide a bead to the other side of the tree.  Christmas Day, the last bead, a yellow star, will top the tree!

My sister made this for me last year so this is my first year to use it.  I think she did a marvelous job!
Cookie sheet.  Spray painted white.  Paper and mod podge for embellishing.  Little tags with magnets on back can be changed out each day.  Store the extra #s on the other side!

Before I announce today's winner, I want to remind you all that TOMORROW kicks off our 12 Days of Giveaways!  With a new giveaway each day for the next 12 days!  I will be linking you to each one, so be sure to stop by.  I will be personally hosting the giveaway here on Monday Dec. 6.  And you won't want to miss it!

I  just used random.org and chose a winner of the Doris Marie Boutique Upcycled T-shirt Dress Giveaway!!!

Christmas Cards: Better late than never!

I can't believe it is almost December!  And I haven't even started working on my Christmas cards this year.  I usually try to get my cards in the mail the first week of December.  So I am a little behind this year.

I have decided to make it easy on myself and design and order my  Christmas cards online and from the comfort of my home.  (I'll probably even do it in my jammies!)

Shutterfly to the rescue!  I have used Shutterfly in the past and have always been satisfied!

They have incredible holiday deals  and a huge selection of fabulous templates to choose from! (If you are a fellow blogger,  Shutterfly is still offering an opportunity for you to earn 50 free holiday cards)

The hardest part will be choosing the perfect holiday card template from their awesome selection.   So many choices!  Here are a few that I am loving right now.

Several pictures....

or just 1????

Decisions.  Decisions.
Plus,
I am thinking, while I am there, I might as well make some fun
Calendars for some last minute gifts.   And one for me as a keepsake for the year!

As soon as I get these done, maybe I can focus on some Holiday Decorating!  And maybe even some new fun crafts!  After all, I'm going to need to display all my fun cards!

Handmade Gift Idea: Oven Mitt and Pot holders

I just made these for a belated birthday gift for my mom.  My daughter gave them to her at Thanksgiving.  I really liked the way they turned out.

I used the oven mitt patten from One Yard Wonders.  I made my hot pads slightly smaller than the book called for.  And made my binding from brown scrap fabric to ad some contrasting color.

I plan on making some more for Christmas gifts.

Perfectly Easy Dinner Rolls

Here is my contribution to Thanksgiving dinner this year.  Since we are traveling 3 hours Thursday morning, I kinda got off easy.  Rolls and drinks.

The name says it all!   These rolls are EASY and oh, so YUMMY!  And turn out perfect every time!  And did I say, no kneading needed! I just whipped them up in my kitchen-aid mixer!  And boy, did my house smell yummy!  My husband came home from work and headed strait for the kitchen and before I could stop him, he gobbled up a roll before dinner.

 Joy's Perfectly Easy Dinner Rolls
 1 cup warm water
2 pkg active dry yeast (5 tsp)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp salt
4-4 1/2 cups flour
add'l melted butter

Makes 24 rolls.

Combine yeast and warm water in lg bowl.  Let stand until yeast is foamy.  About 5 min.

Stir in melted butter, sugar, eggs, and salt.

Beat in flour 1 cup at a time until dough is too stiff to mix.  Should be slightly sticky.  Cover and refrigerate 2 hours. (or up to 4 days)

Grease pans.  Heat oven to 375.  Divide dough into 24 equal pieces and roll into balls.  Place in pan.  Cover and let rise until doubled in size.  About 1 hour.

Bake until golden brown.  15-20 minutes.  Brush warm rolls with melted butter.

These are perfect for leftover turkey sandwiches too!  I will be whipping up another batch today.  After all, you can never have too many rolls!

What are you making this year?

Stocking Stuffer: Beaded Ribbon Necklace

I just finished my first handmade stocking stuffer this year. It is a necklace for Miss K.

I picked these beads up on clearance a while back and realized they had Mickey Mouse on them so I have been trying to come up with something to make with them.
And here it is:

I didn't use a tutorial, but I know there are some good ones out there.  I also didn't get many pictures.  But I think you can probably figure it out.

I left an 8" tail of ribbon on each end for tying.  And just use a needle and thread to weave in and out of the ribbon between each bead.

And here is my little man modeling it....sorry, he would not hold still!

What are you making for your kids stockings this year?  Your husbands?  I'd love to know!
