Spring Burlap Flower Wreath

Finally got around to making my Spring wreath!  Spring is the one time of year I can add some PINK to my house.  (me and my daugher and totally outnumbered.....even the dog is a boy)
I have been looking all around for the perfect one and finally just made my own.

I used a 14" straw wreath, 4 strips 3 1/2"x 48" burlap, and 3 strips fabric 3 1/2"x 45"(one of these is a contrasting piece for hanging)

And my hot glue gun!

Wrap the entire wreath with burlap.  Just hot glue the ends of the burlap strips in place as you go.

Then take your 2 pieces of printed fabric and wrap around leaving spaces so the burlap shows through.

Then I made these darling burlap flowers by Alisa over at The Tidy Nest.
I just adjusted the size a bit and made a bigger one and 2 smaller ones and didn't cover the centers like she did.  And hot glued them on.
Tie a loose not in your last fabric strip for hanging!

Enjoy!  I sure am!  The sun is shining and it really feels like SPRING!

Easy Easter Egg 'nests'

Since I was pretty much a slacker as far as decorating for St. Patrick's Day, I committed myself to get a head start on Easter crafts and decorating. And now after focusing on spring break last week, my head start is slipping away. I do have a couple different burlap bunnies in progress and hope to share those soon. I am also on the lookout for a great, easy, inexpensive idea for a fun Easter/spring wreath.

But for now, I thought it would be fun to whip up something super fast. And something the kids could have fun with too!

So here is a super simple, super fast, easter egg holder! And you probably have all items on hand!

All you need is a washcloth, rubber band, ribbons, and your egg!  And it literally takes only minutes to make!  This is a great one for the kids!

Roll up the wash cloth, (i rolled mine strait but you could start at a corner and roll up and get more uneven ears) fold in half, place rubber band around the ends about 1 1/2- 2" from the ends, depending on the size of your washcloth. Tie ribbons around to hide rubber band.  Insert egg in center of nest!  All done!  Now wasn't that easy!

And I'm lovin' these fun Linky parties:

Refashion: My shirt to hers

I did a thorough cleaning in my closet a week or so ago to get stuff ready for a garage sale.   I found my Tinkerbell shirt.  It really is too small, too tight, and face it, I'm a 30-something mom of 4.
But I couldn't part with it and remembered when I bought it my dd got so excited that I was buying her a tinkerbell shirt.

I used Jill's idea here and added some elastic to ruche up the sides, took it in under the arms a little bit (the shirt is very small to begin with) and Wal-lah!

So cute over a pair of leggings!

Diaper cakes!

Just wanted to share.....

I was browsing through some old pics the other day and came across these pictures of a couple different diaper I cakes I made. They were for a joint shower for 2 of the residents my husband works with. My "cakes" received lots of compliments! These weren't my first attempt and probably won't be my last. I pretty much just tried one years ago and taught myself. If you haven't made one of these before, they are so easy! If you can roll a diaper, you can make it! (I don't have a tutorial but there are tons out there!)

Great for a shower decoration too!

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Last minute St. Paddy's ideas...

I don't know about you, but St. Patrick's day had never been a big deal for me. I usually buy the kids cute socks and find green shirts. And the leprechauns do come and turn our milk green, and sometimes will eat green foods. Green Jello, broccoli, green mashed potatoes, green koolaid, green salad, ect. I have even made clover rolls. And just had a friend give me an awesome idea to color the water green before I add it to my dough. Green clover rolls! How clever!

Lately I have been seeing lots of cute ideas floating around blog-land and it may just change my mind a little.   Green is one of my favorite colors after all!

I LOVE these 2 shirts....they are both so fun and creative.

And I am going to try this easy felt banner

What's for Dinner???

I don't know about you but I HATE figuring out what's for dinner. Could it be that i have some very picky eaters on my hands? I don't enjoy spending hours in the kitchen only to hear groans of disgust when we sit down to eat. But come on! We can't have Mac N Cheese EVERY night! Or can we?

I have tried the menu planning on my own and even let everyone plan 1 meal a week0as long as it was something different. But I just can't seem to stick to it. My sister does 'Taco Tuesday' so at least on that night there is no question what is for dinner.

I was browsing today and came across this new fun site and she has a yummy looking recipe that I think my whole family will actually eat. Chicken Crescents - I have made something similar before so I am going to try this out next week. So that plus 'Taco Tuesday' covers 2 meals!

I would love to hear some of your great ideas on sticking to a menu plan or just plain dealing with picky eaters.

Do you have a GREAT Family friendly EASY dinner idea for me?

And don't forget to check out Misty over at Creative Itch

Refashion: knit pants to skirt....

This past week, I had 2 friends ask me if I had any ideas what to do with little girls knit pants that have holes in the knee. So I got my hands on a pair and this is what I came up with.

Keep in mind my model is a size 5 and these pants are 7/8 so she is holding them at the waist. And the skirt is a little long on her.
This was so easy and maybe I should have taken more pictures but I will try to explain as best as I can.

First lay your pants out flat and cut strait across the legs just above the hole in the knee. Then cut just the seam out up the legs to the crotch.

When pants are laid flat, there will be a triangular opening. Cut out a piece from one of the leg pieces you cut off. Actually cut 2. 1 for the front and 1 for the back.

Pin them in place with right sides together and sew in place. Here is picture with triangle piece pinned in place. (sorry it is sideways, I can't figure out why blogger keeps turning it)

Then I cut 2 strips of tulle. The first is 4" wide and the other 3" wide. I just used the width of the material which was about 45". Put the 3" piece on top and sewed about 1/4" seam with longest stitch to gather to fit around bottom of skirt.

Pin to underside of skirt and stitch tulle in place using 1/2" seam.

Busy busy busy!

That is me this week and last.

Trying to finish up lots of projects that have been piling up.

Slumber party birthday party for oldest son. (whew! glad that is over with!)

Got together with friend to make beaded watches. I have wanted to make these for a while. My sister-in-law actually made them for our family craft exchange this Christmas and then showed me how. So I finally did a couple more and taught a friend in the process. I need to get more pictures but here is one for now.

Then this morning I helped a friend make a Polly Pocket purse for her daughter. (I am working on the tutorial for it and hope to post it soon!) And another friend showed me how to make little girl leggings out of womens socks!

Now to gather stuff for garage sale, finish projects for craft fair, and not neglect my house at the same time.
