Candy Corn Pillow + Tutorial!!!

Have you seen the small fat quarters at Walmart? There has been this orange one just calling to me the last week and I finally came up with a project for it!

A CANDY CORN PILLOW!
(Yes, another Candy Corn project!)

You need:
orange, yellow, and white fabric
orange thread
orange ric rac
poly-fil stuffing

Draw your own Candy Corn pattern.  And cut into 3 pieces.

(My pattern is 11 1/2 inches at the widest spot near the bottom and 16 1/4" tall.  And the finished pillow stands almost 13 " tall)

Cut 2 of each piece.

Start by sewing orange to yellow, with right sides together.  Then sew white to the orange.  I used 1/2" seams.

Press out all seams on both pieces.

Then turn over and top stitch using a zig-zag stitch over the seams.

Next, pin your ric-rac around 1 candy corn piece.  Pin it almost to the edge of your fabric, but leave a little space.

Sew on ric-rac using a small seam allowance.  I just guided the edge of my fabric along the edge of my presser foot.
Then pin the other piece on top of the one with the ric-rac.  Right sides together.
Use  a slightly bigger seam.
Remember to leave about 4-5" opening at the bottom for stuffing.

Stuff it as full as you want to get desired softness.  And sew closed.  Either by machine, like I did or by hand is fine too!

Close up so you can see the zig-zag stitching!

Lil' man loves it too!

(too bad its not a toy!  Check back soon to see how I solve this problem!)

Too stinkin' cute. Candy corns are my favorite part of halloween, so you can never get too many candy corn projects.

How funny I can relate to your post in two different ways. I bought fabric at walmart this week and made dresses for me and my girls and I made halloween pillows. I didnt make a candy corn but now I will. I made vampire, bat and frank. I love the model with the pillow. happy halloween.

SO cute! And I was just at Walmart a couple hours ago looking at all the fabric, A lot of people forget that they have a little hidden craft section in some of the stores and there's always good prices on stuff!
