Refashion little girls shoes

My daughter has a favorite pair of flats. They look horrible. They were cheap shoes to begin with but she still wears them constantly. So instead of throwing them out I decided to try to refashion them a little.

I have been looking for ideas to 'fix em up' and haven't had any luck, so this morning I tried it on my own.

Here is my experiment with scrap fabric and hot glue. My brown corduroy didn't exactly match the dirty brown worn shoes and I used a brown with multipcolor polka dots for the frayed rosettes I posted a couple days ago.
